Court awards life imprisonment to drug trafficker

LAHORE: The Federal Court of Anti-Narcotics has sent culprit Nisar Ahmad to jail for life, as his crime was proved in the court.

According to details, during hearing of a case against the accused, the Anti-Narcotics Force submitted a complete challan against him, including his statements and other allegations, while the prosecutor presented witnesses against the accused. In the presence of witnesses, the court ordered his life imprisonment and sent him to jail.

The convict was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force for possessing a 155kg charas. He was preparing to smuggle this drug to the Gulf states, but the ANF foiled his attempt.

Then the ANF brought him to Lahore for further investigation and prosecution. The ANF had also recovered 21kg heroin from the accused in 2012. Now, after prosecution, the Anti-Narcotics Court sent him to jail and ordered him to pay a penalty of Rs 300,000 as well.

The court also ordered a three-year jail term for his accomplice Zaughum Abbass, and asked him to pay a penalty of Rs 15,000.
