Courts awards jail term to accused involved in Rs 100 million fraud

SIALKOT: A district court has awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a convict Muhamamd Rizwan in Gujranwala’s main fraud case.

According to the prosecution, the convict Muhammad Rizwan had embezzled as many as Rs 100 million of his Denmark-based relative woman Saleema Bibi two years ago in Gujranwala. The convict had asked her to buy a luxurious bunglow for her in Gujranwala. On his assurance, she had sent Rs 100 million to him from Denmark, but instead of purchasing a luxurious house for her family, he embezzled the money and started threatening her and her family of dire consequences.

Saleema Bibi came to Pakistan from Denmark  and she got registered a fraud case against accused Muhammad Rizwan at Gujranwala Cantt police station on November 18, 2013.

Police produced the accused before the court in hand-cuffing. The magisterial court announced 7 year RI to the convict Muhammad Rizwan in this Rs.100 million fraud case and sent the accused to Central Jail Gujranwala, in this regard.

The court acquitted convict Muhammad Rizwan’s two sons Hafeez and Shahid by giving them the benefit of doubt in this fraud cause.
