Custom Court directs jail authorities to release suspect involved in tax fraud case

KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has directed the superintendent Central Jail Karachi to release the accused person namely Syed Muhammad Khalil son of Syed Muhammad Razi who is involved in a sales tax fraud case.

During the hearing, the court was informed that the Sindh High Court (SHC) has granted bail to Syed Muhammad Khalil against surety bonds of Rs 500,000/ and the required surety has been furnished by Yasmeen wife of Syed Muhammad Khalil.

Therefore, Custom Court directed the superintendent Central Jail Karachi to release the accused person namely Syed Muhammad Khalil. Accused Syed Muhammad Khalil was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on February 9, 2016.

According to the prosecution, case was registered by the tax authorities as violation of under section 37A and 37B, read with section 2 (37) of the Sales Tax Act, 1990.
