Customs Court grants interim bail to accused booked in mis-declaration case

KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi granted an interim pre-arrest bail to accused Muhammad Asghar Khan S/o Shah Muhammad Khan booked in a mis-declaration case.

During the hearing, accused appeared before the court along with his counsel and filed an application for interim pre-arrest bail. He argued that applicant/ accused is innocent and was falsely implicated in this case therefore court may grant him a bail till final disposal of this case.

After the hearing, court granted his bail and observed in its order that”without touching the merits of the case, interim pre-arrest bail is granted to accused Muhammad Asghar Khan S/o Shah Muhammad Khan subject to furnish surety in the sum of Rs5 00000 with P.R bond in the like amount to the satisfaction of this court.

The customs court issued a notice to the special prosecutor for customs department and asked the police to bring papers and directed the accused to join the investigation if and when required by the investigation officer and appear before the court on next date of hearing. Hearing was adjourned for February 20, 2017.

According to the prosecution, case was registered against the abovementioned accused and others in violation of under Section 156 (1) (14) & (14-A) of the Customs Act-1969.
