Custom Court issues warrants of suspects in Toyota Crown car’s case

KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has issued non-bailable warrants against Jahngir Khan Treen, Asadullah Khan and Fahad Idress in a case of smuggled/non-duty paid Toyota Crown Saloon car case.

During the hearing, Investigation Officer Azhar Mahdi appeared before the court and submitted challan of the case.

According to the challan, a team of Customs Preventive impounded a vehicle, Toyota Crown Saloon bearing Registration No BEZ-998 model 2008. The absconding accused had smuggled this vehicle and deprived the government of legitimate revenue.

The investigation officer further informed the court that a case was registered against the accused persons by complainant Mashooq Ali Jakhrani, Customs Preventive officer in violation of Section 2 (s), 32 and 178 of Custom Act, 1969, punishable under clauses (8) (89) and (14) of Section 156 (i) ibid.

As per challan, the names of Mashooq Ali Jakhrani, Mahmood-ul-hasan, Matloob Haider, and S. Azhar Mehdi had been mentioned as witnesses of this case.

The investigation officer submitted that none of the accused person has been arrested yet in this case; therefore, the Custom Court judge accepted the challan and issued non-bailable warrants of the absconding accused persons. The court adjourned hearing until October 27, 2016 for execution of non-bail able warrants.
