Deputy Collector Asma issues notice to suspect involved in smuggling of mobile phones, grey cloth

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to a suspect who is allegedly involved in smuggling of mobile phones and grey fabrics.

Sources told Customs Today that a team of Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Faisalabad, intercepted a vehicle and recovered mobile phones and grey fabrics of different brands.

The ASO team asked the owner of the goods who was identified as Mohammad Zafar and his companion Gul Sher to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation of loaded goods. Sources said that both persons failed to show any legal documents. The ASO team after seizing the goods forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication department for further proceedings.

Now Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued show cause notice to accused Mohammad Zafar and Gul Sher due to violation of Customs Act and asked them to appear in person to explain their position. Sources said that a person of representing ASO Faisalabad will also attend the hearing.
