KARACHI: The Directorate General of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) (Customs) is facing immense difficulties in pursuing the legal cases in the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication, Sindh High Court (SHC) and other respective courts due to shortage of staff.

Sources informed Customs Today that the acute shortage of manpower in the Directorate General of Post Clearance Audit does not allow it to pursue legal cases in different courts of law timely.

The sources further revealed that the Director PCA, Gul Rehman has intimated the authorities concerned of FBR about the shortage of man-power in the directorate. However; the FBR despite several intimations by the director of PCA has not yet taken any step in this regard.

They further said that the Directorate General (DG) of Post Clearance Audit was currently working with the strength of two appraisers, one principal appraiser, two assistant directors and two deputy directors which was below than the sanctioned strength.

“Due to the shortage of man-power, the PCA is not able to attend any of the hearings into the cases which the authorities concerned had been filed in different courts of law”, sources added.

Responding to a query, the sources said that the FBR authorities concerned would likely to pay heed towards the scarcity of man-power in PCA after the year end.
