Customs Adjudication-II asks FBR to extend jurisdiction of Collectorate

KARACHI: The Collector of Customs Adjudication-II Javed Chaudhry has written a letter to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), seeking to enhance jurisdiction of his Collectorate, it is learnt here.

Sources informed Customs Today that the Collector appealed the FBR to give extra work to the Collectorate through increasing the jurisdiction of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-II.

The sources informed that Javed Chaudhry stated that the Collecotorate of Customs Adjudication-II is capable of looking after the additional tasks and ready to render services of adjudication for other departments.

According to details, the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-II is currently oversee the cases related to Customs Collectorate Appraisement (East), Preventive and Post Clearance Audit-PCA, adding that the Collectorate is also adjudicating the cases registered by the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation-FBR and Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs.

On the other hand, the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I is looking after the cases related to the Customs Collectorate of Appraisement (West), Customs Collectorate of Port Muhammad Bin Qasim and Customs Collectorate-Export, adding that the Collectorate is also oversee the legal cases forwarded by the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence & Investigation-FBR and Post Clearance Audit-PCA on conditional basis.

The sources further informed that the Collector Javed Chaudhry is willing to extend the jurisdiction of the Collectorate by taking some adjudication matters from the ambit of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I.
