Govt ‘to pay’ sales tax refunds in October

ISLAMABAD: The government may refund payments on sales tax to exporters in the start of next month, October.

The Finance Ministry would make sales tax refund payments to exporters, whose Refund Payment Orders (RPOs) were issued till June 30, 2016.

The matter was discussed during the meeting held under the chairmanship of Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to review the revenue collection target and preparations for sales tax refunds. Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan and other top officials of the revenue authority and finance ministry were also present in the meeting.

Last payment of sales tax refund to the exporters, whose refund payments orders were issued till April, 2016 was made in August 24, 2016. Now the payment under discussion is for those whose refund RPOs were issued till June 2016.
