Customs Adjudication issues ONO against owner of non-duty paid electric hoist

FAISALABAD: Custom Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favor of Customs Intelligence and Investigations.

According to details, customs staff intercepted a vehicle Shahzore Hundai  bearing registration no. GAL- 9600 loaded with electric hoist near Canal Road, Kashmir Pul Faisalabad . The driver of the vehicle who was identified as Nasir Mehmood and the second person named as Ali Raza (owner of the foreign origin electric hoist)son of Razzaq Ali failed to produce any documents about possession of the vehicle and foreign origin electric hoist.

After their failure customs authorities impounded the vehicle and foreign origin electric hoist and referred the case to Customs Adjudication authorities. Ali Raza and Nasir Mehmood served with a show cause notice in which they were asked to explain the reasons that why his vehicle and foreign origin electric hoist should not be confiscated for violation of section 2(S) read with SRO 566 (1) , section 16&18 of the Customs Act , 1969, section 3 of Sales Tax Act and as to why penal action be not taken against him under the law .

On the other hand, Intelligence Officer Mian Muhammad Umer Bhatti appeared from the petitioner side but no one was appeared from the respondent side. The case decided on the basis of the facts and material available.

Deputy Collector Asma Hameed after reviewing all the stated facts/documents of the case declares the seizure of above mentioned jeep as legal.
