Customs AFU lodges FIR against alleged mobile phone smugglers

FAISALABAD: The Customs Air Freight Unit (AFU) Faisalabad has lodged an FIR against Zahid Iqbal Butt and Shakeel Sultan who are involved in mobile smuggling.

According to details, deputy collector Customs got information that a huge quantity of foreign origin mobile phones are being transported from Dubai via Flydubai flight no. FZ-343. The AFU team deputed at Faisalabad International Airport recovered the mobile phones which includes Samsung Galaxy J3 (10 nos), Galaxy S3 (08 nos), Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (15 nos) and others different brands.

AFUI team asked the accused persons to show legal documents and invoices of mobile phones but both accused persons failed to show any relevant documents. After their failure Customs AFU team seized the mobile.

Now Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya has lodged an FIR against nominated accused persons under section 37-A and B of the Sales Tax Act 1969. Further process is still underway till the filing of this report.
