Customs Court sends alleged gold smuggler on physical remand

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved a three-day physical remand of a suspect who was arrested by the customs authorities at Lahore airport while making an attempt to smuggle gold.

According to the details, an accused Ibrar Islam was booked by the Customs Preventive from Allama Iqbal International Airport while he was travelling for Muscat. During search of the luggage, the customs staff recovered 550 gram of gold.

Therefore, the official arrested the accused named Ibrar and registered a case against him under the customs laws.

The Customs Investigation and Prosecution team presented him before the duty judge of the Customs Court and asked for his physical remand that was granted for interrogation.
