ISLAMABAD: Customs Air Freight Unit (AFU) has showed tremendous performance in the head of revenue collection and exceeded the target during first two quarters of the current financial year.
According to sources Islamabad Airport Customs has collected record revenue of Rs3058 million against the target of Rs2940 million assigned by the Federal Board of Revenue for the first two quarters of current financial year 2019- 2020.
Sources told Customs Today that during the month of December 2019, Rs 762 million were collected under the head of customs duty against the target of Rs 540 million set by Federal Board of Revenue, showing an increase of 47 percent. Overall collection from July to December 2019 remained Rs 3058 million against the target of Rs 2940 million, exceeding the target by 4 percent and showing increase of 47 percent against the revenue collection of last financial year during the same period.
According to sources, the main reasons including the focus on curbing tax evasion, application of correct valuation rulings and increased vigilance contributed to the higher revenue collection.
