LAHORE: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and Pakistan Customs have jointly foiled an attempt to smuggle heroin to a Gulf state from Allama Iqbal International Airport on Monday night.
Sources told Customs Today that on Monday night, the Customs officials found a suspicious passenger who was travelling for United Arab Emirates through a private airline. Sources said that the passenger who was identified as Tahir Rehmat was trying to smuggle costly heroin that was hidden in his stomach.
After confirmation, the Customs preventive handed him over to the ANF at Lahore Airport. During technical search of the accused, the ANF found 50 capsules of heroin from his stomach. Sources said that the value of heroin is more than Rs 3 million in international market because it is of good quality and has demand in Gulf States.
The ANF has registered a case against Tahir Rehmat and started investigations. Accused will be produced before the court of Anti Narcotics for further prosecution and investigation. It is pertinent to mention here that number of persons have arrested by the customs or ANF from Lahore airport during search of the goods while they were making attempt to smuggle heroin of other narcotics from Lahore.
Meanwhile on Monday night another accused was also arrested by the customs authorities while they found 141 video games in his luggage.
