KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Faiz Rasool Rashdi has accepted the bail plea of Masood Aziz Khan, who was allegedly involved in mis-declaration of the import of pharmaceutical raw material.
During the hearing, the counsel for the accused submitted that the applicant is innocent and has falsely been implicated in this case. The court was requested to grant him bail. However, counsel for the state opposed the bail application. After the arguments, the court granted bail to Masood Aziz Khan against the surety bonds of Rs 200,000.
According to the prosecution, on an information that certain unscrupulous importers were engaged in importing pharmaceutical raw materials with the vague description of “SDO” and preservative ACJC from China/India by mis-declaration classification, officials of the Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisment ( East ) intercepted the goods which lying at Port and during the investigation it revealed that M/s Cemi Zone, Liaquatabad Karachi had cleared 10 consignment by declaring fake brand of preservative ACJC-240 and 430 and SDO-222 as against pharmaceutical raw materials. The accused was arrested and FIR was registered by Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement ( East ).
