ISLAMABAD: Five benches of the Customs Appellate Tribunal will become dysfunctional as the tenure of Chairman Ghulam Murtaza Bhatti is going to end on April 8 and Member Technical Maqsood ul Hassan’s on April 9. Both the officials are part of three division benches and two single benches at the tribunal.
Till the appointment of a new chairman and member technical, two single benches of each of them and three division bench of both of them will become dysfunctional.
However, in the absence of these members, Member Technical Muhammad Nasir Khan would work alone as a single bench at the tribunal.
Moreover, uncertainty also prevails among staffers of the Customs Appellate Tribunal as the policy of the Ministry of Law and Justice on the appointments of new chairman and member technical is unclear.
The ministry has withdrawn the orders to take back the vehicle from current Chairman Ghulam Murtaza Bhatti.
