Abdul Hameed told that in the outstanding amount of collection included Rs 610.60 million as sales tax, Rs 218.08 million in the wake of customs duty whereas Rs 30.20 million collected as Income Tax. Abdul Hameed said that the Appraising Department has collected this amount on its own behalf because any target was not received by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). He said that the department has sent notices to defaulters after prior permission of the collector because these defaulters had failed to deposit their taxes since long. He said that those defaulters who would not clear their outstanding amounts till October 15, 2016, the department would take stern action against them.

Deputy Collector Muhammad Ilyas said that the collection of Appraising Department is much better and the department is ready to collect outstanding amount and the time period will end on October 15, 2016 then the action will start against defaulters as per Customs Law and Custom Act 1969. He said that the Customs Department has good relations with exporters and importers while the attitude of Officers and Officials much better but when defaulters don’t ready to pay outstanding amount then the department take action as per law and it is purely right of Customs Department.
