Customs Appraisement issues show cause notice to contract employee for misconduct

LAHORE: The Customs Collectorate Appraisement Mughalpura Dry Port has issued a show cause notice to Umer Hayat son of Munir Ahmad for misconduct.

Sources told Customs Today that Umer Hayat. an employee of Customs Appraisement, was appointed on contract basis under prime minister’s assistance package and he was found guilty of misconduct under Government Servants Efficiency and Discipline Rules 1973. A charge sheet was issued to Umer Hayat while Assistant Collector Usman Tariq was appointed as inquiry officer to investigate all the charges against him.

The inquiry officer, in his report, submitted that Umer Hayat was absent despite receiving a memo and charge sheet regarding unauthorized absence from duty. Therefore, the charges of misconduct were established against Umer Hayat according to the law.

Now the Customs Appraisement has issued a show cause notice to Umer Hayat and asked a reply from him within seven days otherwise a major penalty even dismissal from the government service might be imposed on him. In failure of his presence within stipulated period case will be decided on the basis of evidences available on record.
