Customs Appraiser censured over unauthorised absence

ISLAMABAD: Moazzam Ali Virk, an Appraiser (BS-16), posted at Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement, Lahore, has been censured over unauthorised absence from duty.

The disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the accused officer under Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973. The officer was served a show-cause notice dated in terms of Rule 2(4) and Rule 3(b) of the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973 and he submitted his defence reply.

The Authorized Officer/Chief (Management-Customs), after having examined all aspects of the case imposed the minor penalty of ‘censure’ upon Moazzam Ali Virk. His un-authorised absence from duty for 76 days from May 26, 2015 to August 09, 2015 was treated as extra-ordinary leave without pay. His performance allowance will be stopped for 6 months from the date of award of penalty as provided in para 7(ii) of the Performance Allowance Guidelines 2015 and he will have to appear afresh for restoration of the same.
