Customs Appraiser Peshawar Dry Port held for devouring Rs4000m

PESHAWAR: Customs Appraiser at Peshawar Dry Port Hidayat Ullah has been arrested by the NAB KP on Thursday from Peshawar.

This was stated by NAB official that the alleged culprit has caused the national exchequer a loss of some Rs4000million.

The NAB KP apprehended accused Hidayat Ullah, Appraiser Customs Dry Port Peshawar, for allegedly being involved in the corruption and corrupt practices and misuse of authority by which he caused the national treasury said loss.

During the course of investigation, it was revealed that accused, with the connivance of other co-accused, cleared 1450 x construction machinery illegally and in violation of the applicable rules. However their evil designs were obstructed by the NAB (KP) investigation team.

The accused persons, with the connivance of each other, illegally cleared 500 machineries worth more than Rs600million as assessed by the department whereas market value of the same is more than Rs2800million.

In this way, the group has caused the government kitty a colossal loss of more than Rs4000million so far.

It may be remembered that two other co-accused named Shahid Akbar, Principal Appraiser, and Abdul Hadi, Appraiser, Customs Dry Port Peshawar, have already been held in this mega corruption case.

The NAB KP is vigorously pursuing the case. More facts are expected to surface. The accused will be produced before the Accountability Court for obtaining his physical remand.
