Customs ASO and Car Cell impounds 154 vehicles worth Rs203.92m in H1 of FY2016-17

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) and Car Cell impounded 154 vehicles worth Rs203.92 million during first half of financial year 2016-17.

According to details, the ASO and car cell departments are strictl following the instructions of FBR and working efficiently to achieve their assigned revenue target for the finanacial year 2016-17.

Sources told Customs Today that the ASO impounded 88 non-duty paid as well as offending vehicles worth Rs94.05 million in different operations during the above said period whereas the customs car cell impounded 66 vehicles worth Rs109.87 million in the first half of FY2016-17.

Sources said that the impounded vehicles during different operations includes Hino trucks, Bed ford trucks, Mazda trucks, Toyota Corolla cars, Toyota Hiace, Suzuki pickups, Honda cars, Pajero jeeps, Mercedes cars, Toyota Vitz cars, Toyota Hilux Surf, Toyota Prado, and public transport vehicles adding that as the ASO and car cell have foiled various attempts of smuggling goods through private vehicles, now the smuggling of goods in public transport vehicles is trending.

The customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) and car cell departments are optimistic to add a handsome amount in the revenue by achieving their assigned target.
