Customs ASO confiscates huge quantity of non-duty paid cigarettes, tyres

LAHORE: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Lahore Monday seized million of rupees non-customs paid cigarettes from a goods transport outlet, sources told Customs Today.

The sources said that on information, an ASO scout raided a goods transportation station and seized over 3000 dandas of non-duty paid cigarettes.  It was said that cigarettes were foreign origin which included Benson and other cigarettes of assorted types.

The source said that the customs authorities have transported the cigarettes to the State Warehouse of Customs House at Multan Road Near Shah Noor Studio.

It was added that the customs authorities would be able to disclose the details, value, and brands of the cigarettes after its counting.

The sources said that the smuggled cigarettes were to be supply to Kashmir . The sources estimated that the market value of the cigarettes value is no less than Rs30,000,00 while exact value will be determined following the counting of the seized cigarettes. The sources said that the customs authorities after registering case have started further investigation to reach the culprits.

Earlier, yesterday, the Anti-smuggling Lahore Preventive has seized millions of rupees tyres, tubes, non-customs paid vehicles and other items illegally imported, sources said.
