ISLAMABAD: Collectorate of Customs Collector Seema Raza Bokhari said that the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) earned extra revenue of Rs100 million against allocated target of Rs115 million. Overall Customs ASO collected Rs204 million during the month of March 2020 while it impounded 135 NDP vehicles during first three quarters of current Fiscal Year.
Talking with Customs Today she said that due to recent epidemic COVID-19 the business activities are already slowed down against normal routine whereas anti smuggling squads of Customs Collectorate are using all available resources to eliminate the notorious elements who use this situation for fulfilling their illegal means.
Telling the details of anti smuggling performance during the month of March 2020, Seema Raza Bokhari said that the Collectorate was assigned Rs104 millions of revenue collection target for seizing NDP vehicles and smuggled goods whereas the Anti smuggling Organization seized smuggled goods and NDP vehicles worth Rs204 million during the month of March.
During the month of March 2020, the ASO Islamabad seized offending vehicles worth Rs21 million while it seized NDP vehicles worth Rs71 million whereas the ASO seized smuggled foreign origin tyres worth Rs68 million as well as seized auto parts valuing of Rs1.2 million. The anti smuggling squad seized other smuggled goods i.e. cigarettes, electronic goods and various multiple prohibited goods worth Rs42 million, the Collector informed.
Telling the performance of first three quarters from July to March 2019-20, she said that the ASO Islamabad seized 87 offending vehicles worth Rs226 million while it seized 135 of NDP vehicles worth Rs791 millions, adding that during the said period, the ASO Islamabad seized smuggled goods and vehicles worth Rs1648 millions.
