Customs ASO impounds NDP goods worth Rs33m during current week

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization Lahore has successfully impounded over Rs 33 million contraband goods during current week of April.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Preventive Faiz Ahmad after directed all anti smuggling squads to enhance checking on main roads of Lahore City.

During checking of vehicles which were intercepted by anti smuggling squads the ASO team impounded huge quantity of non duty paid goods which includes motorcycle chains, door supporter, used and old air conditioners, cable wire, dove cream soap, fabric polyester cloth and condenser.

Sources told that the ASO also detained the 22 wheeler truck worth Rs 3 million. The officials sources said that the vehicles and others items approximately Rs75 million have been confiscated during the current week.

They said that on the orders of Collector customs Faiz Ahmed the Customs department registering cases has started further investigations in to the cases.

It is also necessary to mention here that Collector Faiz Ahmad adopted a comprehensive strategy to curb smuggling attempts in the region. Due to this strategy there is marginable decrease is being witnessed in the smuggling attempts.
