LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team seized of 3770 non duty paid Q-Mobile from Hall Road on Wednesday night. The market value of seized mobiles is Rs6 million
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Preventive Faiz Ahmad received credible information that big quantity of non duty paid mobiles phones were being smuggled. He immediately constituted a ASO team under the supervision of Superintendent Nasir Minhas which also included Deputy Superintendent Agha Qadeer Haider, and Inspectors Azam Wattoo, Amjad Khan and Gulzar Bhatti.
The team started checking of vehicles near Hall Road. During checking the team intercepted a Toyota Altis car bearing registration no: AEB-395 and recovered 3770 Q-Mobiles.
The team asked the driver who was later identified as Nawaz Khan who is a resident of Peshawar to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation of seized Q-Mobiles but he remained failed to produce any relevant legal documents.
After his failure Customs ASO team seized the mobile phones and after registering a case started investigations. Customs ASO also detained the vehicle being used for transportation of these mobile phones.
It is necessary to mention here that recently Customs Preventive team seized huge quantity of non duty paid mobile phones from Behria Town. Collector Customs Preventive after assuming the charge directed all field staff to adopt zero tolerance towards smuggling. He warned that anyone who found involved in smuggling will be dealt with iron hands and according to customs laws. Due to comprehensive strategy adopted by Customs Preventive a marginable decrease is being witnessed in smuggling attempts.
