Customs ASO impounds vehicles, goods worth millions of rupees

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) collected Rs 5.75 million from December 31 to January 9 of the financial year 2016-17 and impounded offending vehicles worth Rs 3.3 million during the period.

According to details, the ASO seized four offending vehicles worth Rs 3.3 million and also including another one worth Rs 0.15 million.

During the above mentioned period, the ASO seized 3,664 yard foreign origin fabric worth Rs 1.8 million and also did 750 kilogram of food grains worth Rs 0.167 million.

From December 31 to January 9, the ASO staff earned of Rs 0.0105 million by seizing the food grains weighing 100 kilogram. During the same period, the ASO collected Rs 0.043 million by seizing 25 carpets and 20 blankets worth Rs 0.050 million.

The ASO Islamabad collected revenue of Rs 25.37 million during the first 15 days (From 1st to 15th of December FY2016-17) by seizing the smuggled goods and non-duty paid vehicles. The Collectorate and Anti-Smuggling Organisation Islamabad impounded 12 offending vehicles worth Rs 13.4 million and two other ones amounting to Rs 2.74 million till 15th of December respectively.

During the first 15 days of December, the ASO seized offending vehicles, including Mazda truck, Bedford truck, Hino truck, Toyota Corolla car, Santro car, passenger busses, Mehran car, Hino buses and mini truck Mazda, from GT Road, Rawalpindi-Peshawar.
