ISLAMABAD: Customs Collectorate Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized dry fruits which includes almond, engeer and peanuts along with offending Nissan truck worth Rs1.9 million.
Sources told Customs Today that ASO authorities received credible information that huge quantity of dry fruit were being smuggled via GT Road Rawalpindi.
Sources said that after getting information the ASO squad established a check post near Burhan and they intercepted a Nissan truck coming from Peshawar, they stopped the vehicle bearing registration No TKA-880 and started checking.
During search the ASO squad found huge quantity of almond with out shells, the approximately value of almond was Rs.627900, ASO also seized in 8400kg of engeer amounting Rs.529200 and 70 kilograms of peanuts amounting Rs.7350.
Sources said that ASO also impounded the offending vehicle under value of Rs.800000. The anti smuggling staff that take part in hole operation were comprises Superintendent Zargham Dil, Deputy Superintendent Rana Shakeel, Inspector Asif and other staff.
Sources added that customs department is using all resources to curb smuggling and adopting comprehensive strategy against smugglers there are margin able decrease in smuggling attempts during current financial year.
