Customs ASO seizes smuggled goods worth Rs 1.27m during operation on GT Road

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Collectorate anti-smuggling squad has seized different kinds of smuggled goods worth Rs 1.247 million during an operation.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan told Customs Today that the anti-smuggling squad was on its routine patrolling on Rawalpindi-Peshawar GT Road near Tarnool when the squad intercepted a vehicle.

The anti-smuggling squad asked the driver of the vehicle to show the relevant documents of the loaded goods. The driver failed to provide any relevant documents to the customs staff after that the squad seized the entire goods. He said that the seized foreign origin goods include textile fabric, assorted brands of bath soaps of foreign origin, iron Panasonic brand, Sony Batavia LED TVs, cell phone call me brand and viscose fabric.

The Customs Preventive which conducted the above mention operation includes Deputy Superintenent Rana Shakeel, Abdul Malik and Inspector Ahmed Junaid. All the goods were seized under the Customs Act, 1969 and FIR has been lodged against the accused and further investigation are still underway.
