Customs Car Cell impounds 10 non-duty paid vehicles during August

ISLAMABAD: The car cell of the Customs Collectorate impounded 10 non-duty paid vehicles worth millions of rupees in August.

Collector Dr Arslan Subuctgeen told Customs Today that the Collectorate got special instructions from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to start a crackdown against the owners of non-duty paid vehicles.

The collector said that Customs Collectorate Islamabad used the latest technology such as lap-tops, connectivity with Excise and Taxation Department, and strict vigilance by Customs Preventive division and car cell to discourage the trends of smuggled vehicles.

He said that non-duty paid vehicles is a serious issue and the government is taking steps to resolve it. He said that the car cell seized different types of non-duty paid vehicles during the second month of the current financial year. The seized vehicles included Mercedes, Toyota Hilux, Mercedes Benz, Prado, Honda Accord, Honda Civic and Toyota Surf.
