Customs car cell impounds non-duty paid Mercedes Benz

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Collectorate car cell has impounded a non-duty paid tampered Mercedes Benz model 2004 having registration number CLK-240 worth Rs 6 million.

Sources of Customs Islamabad told Customs Today that the car cell received information through its sources that a non-duty paid vehicle is spotted in Islamabad.

In pursuance of information, the car cell reached Bara Khu area where the car was parked. The squad asked the owner to produce legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle but the owner failed to show any relevant documents. After investigation, the squad found that said car’s documents were fake and number was tampered.

Customs car cell Superintendent Chaudhary Safdar impounded the vehicle under Customs Act 1969. The sources said that FBR has issued special instructions to customs department to make appropriate steps to impound the non-duty paid vehicles.
