Customs Central Region collects Rs 3,530m withholding tax in Q1

LAHORE: The Customs Central Region has collected Rs 3,530 million on account of withholding tax during the first quarter of financial year 2016-17.

The withholding tax collection has been collected by all the four collectorate of customs, including Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Collectorate of Customs Appraisement, Colletorate of Customs Multan and Collectorate of Customs Faisalabad.

As per details, Collectorate of Customs Appraisement collected Rs 1,704 million on account of withholding tax during first quarter of the period under review while Customs Preventive collected Rs 1,735 million during the first quarter financial year 2016-17. Similarly, Collectorate of Customs Multan collected Rs 56 million during the first quarter of the current financial year.

On the other hand, the collectorate of Faisalabad collected Rs 34 million on account of withholding tax during the first quarter of financial year 201-17.

Overall the customs Central Region collected Rs 3530 million sales tax revenue during the first quarter of financial year 2016-17.

The sales tax has been collected from import and export by all the four collectorate that come under the limits of central region.

Sources told Customs Today that Chief Collector of Customs Central Region in order to meet financial year targets has urged all the collectorates to speed up collection measures.

She recently held an extra ordinary meeting with collectors of all the collectorate and impressed upon the need of collection of the revenue without losing any moment.
