Customs confiscates smuggled velvet cloths valued RS1m

ISLAMABAD: Directorate General, Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Federal Board of Revenue, Rawalpindi, has seized 1840 kg non-duty paid imported ladies-velvet cloths worth Rs one million. The Customs I&I have lodged an FIR and arrested two accused named Hayat Ullah Khan and Khan Zada.

According to sources, the directorate received a tip-off about a smuggling bid of the said cloths from Peshawar to Rawalpindi by Mazda Mini truck with registration No C-2671. A special team of anti-smuggling staff was constituted. The anti-smuggling staff near Chongi No 26 on G.T. Road, Islamabad, searched a vehicle which led to the recovery of 1840 kg foreign origin ladies-velvet cloths.
