Customs Court accepts challan of injections & mobile phones smuggling

KARACHI: The Customs Court accepted interim charge sheet against suspects namely Zeeshan Ali Awan son of Sikandar Ali and Muhammad Aamir son of Sain Muhammad Sohail, who were arrested in a case of attempting to smuggle 10,000 somatotropin injection and mobile phones.

On December 29, 2018, investigation officer of Customs Preventive submitted interim challan and informed the court that on credible information, the staff intercepted the above-mentioned suspects at International Arrival, JIAP, Karachi and recovered foreign origin hormones injections which induce cows to produce more milk.

He further submitted that one laptop, Samsung S8, Samsung S7 edge, Nokia 105, Samsung SM-G950F were also recovered from suspects. Total value of these mobiles is Rs30 million.

After the hearing, the court accepted interim challan and directed jail authorities to produce above-mentioned suspects before the court on next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under section 2 (s) 16, 139 of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under clauses (8) (89) & (70) of Section 156(i) ibid read with baggage rules notified vide SRO-666(1) ibid and other related laws.
