Customs Court adjourns 20 cases on Thursday

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling on Thursday heard 20 cases, including pre-arrest bail pleas filed by suspects.

Numbers of the cases were adjourned without any proceedings as the parties and lawyers concerned did not appear in the court.

Hearing of a pre-arrest bail plea filed by accused Suhail Aziz was also adjourned for new date in next week.

A case against Azhar Abbas was also scheduled for hearing in which the court recorded statements of the parties. The Customs Court again sent him to jail on 14 days judicial remand.

Azhar Abbas was booked by the Gujranwala tax authorities following the charges of tax evasion. He was already on judicial remand of 14 that has been further extended.

The cases of smuggling, tax evasion and narcotics were scheduled for hearing on the day, while the court heard cases of Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Multan region.
