Customs Court adjourns bail pleas, hears 16 cases on Monday

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling heard 16 important cases on Monday, including pre-arrest bail pleas of accused.

During hearing, pre-arrest bail pleas of two accused namely Muhammad Ibrahim and Saud Afzal were scheduled for the next hearing because they failed to satisfy the court on their bail requirements.

On Monday, there were 16 cases scheduled for hearing. Most of these cases included those of tax evasion, customs, smuggling and narcotics.

The court also proceeded on recording statements of parties and witnesses in five different cases, including those related to Naseer Ahmad and Ammar.

Cases of Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Jhelum were scheduled for the day, while cases of smuggling were also a part of the day’s schedule in which the court recorded the statements of the parties.

In some cases, the Customs Court recorded witnesses’ statements and issued necessary directives.
