LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti Smuggling has adjourned the bail plea of a suspect who is in jail due to his alleged involvement in mobile phones and LEDs smuggling case.
Sources told Customs Today that Khurram Shahzad was booked by Customs Intelligence Sialkot after hundreds of mobile phones and LED TVs were also recovered from him. He has filed a bail petition in the court which is adjourned for the next week.
Sources told Customs Today that total value of the recovered goods is Rs 3.5 million. Accused was a professional smuggler and has a big network in Lahore, Sialkot, Rawalpindi and Peshawar to make his smuggled goods safe at every step during shifting from tribal areas to big cities of Punjab.
Earlier he was in custody of Customs investigation and prosecution for interrogation regarding his act of smuggling and to dig out persons behind him.
Customs Investigation and Prosecution Sambrial Sialkot has registered a case against him under section 2, (s), 16, 139, 157(1)m and 178 of Pakistan Customs Act 1969.
