Customs Court adjourns hearing of bail plea filed by suspected mobile phones smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has adjourned the hearing of a bail plea filed by a suspected, Tayyab Manzoor, allegedly involved in mobile phones smuggling case.

Earlier, the Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court approved a 14-day judicial remand of the accused who was arrested by the customs authorities from Faisalabad.

Sources told Customs Today that Manzoor was arrested by the Customs Preventive when he arrived at Faisalabad International Airport from Bahrain via Gulf Airways.

During search of the luggage of the goods customs team found mobile phones that he was trying to smuggle to Faisalabad Bahrain a Gulf state.

Customs team arrested him and found 60 cell phones hidden in his bag. Customs has registered a case against accused Tayyab and launched investigation as well after confiscating the cell phones that he was trying to smuggle.

Customs Investigation and Prosecution team produced him before the judge of the customs court and asked him for his physical remand that the court has approved for two days for investigation to dig out the more accused behind the smuggling act. Worth of the cell phones was more than Rs 5 million.
