Customs Court adjourns hearing of case against suspect involved in illegal removal of pay order

KARACHI: Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has adjourned the hearing of a case filed against suspect namely Mohsin son of Abdul Ghaffar, who was booked in a case of illegal removal of pay order.

During the hearing, counsel for the accused person and the Customs Department sought time to file their comments, therefore, the court adjourned the matter.

Earlier, investigation officer, Muhammad Qadeer Khan, Appraising Officer Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement East Customs House Karachi had produced suspect before the court and informed that suspect was arrested on June 13, 2017 for illegally removing a pay order no 2429168 of Rs 2,361,259 issued by MCB Bank Karachi, on November 3, 2016, and was received by the securities section of the Collectorate. The suspect deposited the same into WeBOC PD account of unauthorized importer Muhammad Rehman Khan, the proprietor of M/S Khan Traders.

According to the prosecution, the case was registered against accused under section 32A of the customs act, 1969 punishable under clauses 14A of section 156 (1) of the Customs Act, 1969.
