KARACHI: The Customs Taxation & Anti-Smuggling Court allowed suspect namely Syed Muhammad Asim son of Wali Muhammad to go Dubai for three months, who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle gold and cellular phones worth millions of rupees.
On August 20, 2018, during the hearing, counsel for the above-mentioned accused moved petition and argued that the accused wants to visit Dubai for settlement of his business; therefore, petitioner may be allowed.
After hearing the arguments, court allowed his petition and observed in its order that “three months passport is ordered to be returned to the accused on fresh affidavit to the satisfaction of this court. The accused shall also execute the bond for return of passport within three months after the date of departure abroad.”
Earlier, the above mentioned suspect appeared before the court along with his counsel and moved petition for bail and argued that his counsel is innocent and was falsely been implicated in this case, therefore, court may grant him bail till final judgment in this case. After the hearing, court granted his bail against the surety of Rs200,000 and directed him to appear before the court on next date of hearing.
On last date of hearing, Investigation Officer Shahzad Wasti produced the above mentioned suspect before the court and informed that said accused was absconder in this case and now was arrested by the customs authorities. After the hearing, court had sent him to Jail and directed jail authorities to produce him on next date of hearing.
Case was registered against above mentioned suspect for violation of under Section 2 (s) and 16, 156 (1) (8) (89) and 157 of the Customs Act, 1969.
