Customs Court approves bail before arrest of M/s Al-Aswed owner in tax evasion case

KARACHI: The Customs Court has granted bail before arrest to suspect Imran Haroon, owner of M/s Al-Aswed, who is nominated in a case of mis-declaring goods.

On 28 September 2019, above-mentioned suspect appeared before the court along with his counsel who moved pre-arrest bail application and argued that his counsel is innocent and has been falsely implicated in this case. He is ready to face trail, however, he has apprehension of arrest, therefore, court may grant his bail.

After the hearing, court granted pre-arrest bail against the surety of Rs200,000 and directed him to appear before the court on next date of hearing for conformation. The court also issued notices to customs department and sought comments and police papers.

According to the first information report (FIR), an information was received that above mentioned importers in active connivance with their clearing agents and other accomplices have mis-declared the description, quantity, origin, classification of the imported goods by submitting false, fake and fabricated information into customs computerized system (WeBOC) to evade legitimate of government revenue.
