Customs court approves bail of alleged sales tax evader

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved the post arrest bail plea of a suspect who was in jail on judicial remand of 14 days.

Sources told Customs Today that Wamiq Zaka was arrested by the Inland Revenue Department of the Federal Board of Revenue in a huge sales tax evasion case. Sources said that the accused was arrested after intelligence information that he is evading sales tax in millions of rupees.

After confirming the evasion of tax Inland Revenue got arrest warrants of the accused from customs court and booked him from Lahore under Pakistan sales tax act 1992.

Inland Revenue presented him before the court after physical remand where customs court ordered to send him to jail on judicial remand. During his judicial remand he moved his petition for bail. Now the court has granted him bail against surety bonds and personal guarantee.

Accused Wamiq Zaka is allegedly involved in evasion of sales tax in millions or rupees in his trading and manufacturing business.
