Customs Court approves bail to suspect booked in HSD smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court granted bail to suspect namely Abdul Hussain son of Abdul Sattar, who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 4500 liter High Speed Diesel (HSD) which was being smuggled through sea.

Naib Subedar/ Investigation Officer Arshad of Pakistan Coast Guard produced the above mentioned suspect before the court and informed that on a credible informed Subedar Amir Badadur, check post commander intercepted a launch namely Allah Ho Akbar registration number B-22377 model 2016 and during the search, recovered 4500 liters Iranian High Speed Diesel.

Investigation officer further informed the court that after the formalities, Coast Guard officials seized the above mentioned ferry and case was registered against above mentioned suspect for violation of under section 8, 16, 156 (1) (8) (89) and 157 of the Customs Act 1969.

He submitted that prosecution has completed investigations from the said suspect, therefore, court may send him to jail on judicial remand, during the hearing, suspects did not complaint any maltreatment at the hands of complaint.

After the hearing, court sent him to jail and however, counsel for the suspect filed bail petition and after hearing of bail application, court granted him bail against the surety of Rs1,00,000.
