KARACHI: The Customs Court issued non-bailable warrants against absconding suspects namely Shoukat Ali and Abdul Razzak, who were booked in tax evasion case.
On July 5, 2019, investigation officer of customs preventive submitted interim charge sheet against the above mentioned suspects and informed the court that on an actionable information, customs preventive intercepted non-duty paid vehicle Toyota VITZ car bearing registration number BFB-648 and asked occupant Shoukat Ali to substantiate the lawful import/ procurement of the said vehicle to which he produced the registration coupon of the said vehicle.
He further submitted that on inquiry, forensic test confirmed that no other number was deciphered under the present chassis M/s PRAL Customs, user support group, customs house Karachi and no record found against the said chassis number.
He further submitted that during the investigation, it was confirmed that above-mentioned suspects evaded the duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 965,456.
After the hearing, court approved interim charge sheet and issued non-bailable warrants against absconding suspects and directed investigation officer to arrest and produce them on next date of hearing.
According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under section 2 (s) (15) (16) of the Customs Act 1969 punishable under clause (89) of section 156 (i) ibid read with section 156 (2) of the Customs Act, 1969 further read with section 3 (1) of Imports & Export Control Act, 1950.
