KARACHI: The Customs Court issued non-bailable warrants against suspects namely Waheedullah son of Chimni Khan and Muhammad Zada son of Lal Badshah and directed investigation officer to arrest and produce them who were booked in a case of attempting to smuggle contraband gutka.
On May 29, 2019, investigation officer of customs preventive submitted interim charge sheet and informed that on an actionable information, customs team intercepted a Toyota Corolla Saloon bearing registration no: BAN-282 and recovered 27 PP bags containing 675 packets of J.M Brand Indian origin gutka worth Rs1,350,000.
He further submitted that during the investigation, it was established that the above-mentioned suspects purchased the impounded car which was being used for smuggling and transportation of foreign origin gutka.
He said that prosecution is trying its best for their arrest and they will be produced before the court when arrested.
After the hearing, court approved the interim charge sheet and issued non-bailable warrants against suspects and directed investigation officer to produce them on next date of hearing.
According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under Section 2 (s) (15) (16) of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Clause (8) of Section 156 (i) ibid.
