Customs IMO recovers heroin worth Rs45m from parcels

ISLAMABAD: The Customs International Mail Office (IMO) Chaklala seized heroin powder (brown color) which was tactfully concealed in four parcels (ladies hand bags). The destination of parcels was United Kingdom and Bangladesh while parcels were booked from Islamabad.

Talking with Customs Today Additional Collector Ashfaq Khan said that under direction of Chief Collector (North) Asif Jah and Collector Seema Raza, vigilance was already enhanced on all the Customs International Mail Offices (IMOs) because of Eid because mostly on these days notorious elements try to do dirty activities of smuggling through parcels.

He said these parcels were detained by Customs staff of the Collectorate during examination. The staff seized four packets of heroin powder in brown color.  In international market the value of seized 4.5 kilograms heroin was estimated at Rs45 million.

He said that the address of the sender was identified as Nahar Paul son of Ch Shamim Asghar H No 11-street 03, Mohallah Ch Mahsoor Colony Khana Dak Islamabad Pakistan, Phone No 0313 9321700.

Ashfaq Khan said that department has started investigation of said seizures of heroin powder in quantity 4.5 kgs. He informed that seized heroin reached Chaklala Customs IMO office via GPO (General Post Office).
