Customs Court approves judicial remand of accused involved in smuggling

MULTAN:The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti -Smuggling has sent eight  accused persons to jail for judicial remand for 14 days on Saturday. Earlier all eight accused were on physical remand for three days and they were in custody of Multan customs for investigation.

According to details ,Multan Customs Investigation and Prosecution branch has produced accused Ishaq son of Assal Din ,Ahktar Muhammad son of Haji Bismillah Khan, Imran Khan son of Nambullah Khan, Alam Sher Khan son of Mir Ahmad, Ikramullah Khan son of Ayaz, Abdul Rauf son of Adam Khan, Fazeel Ameen son of Abdul Karim and Mehmood son of Raziq involved in smuggling of various goods under the  garb of Afghan Transit trade. All accused are residents of Wana After arresting the accused Multan customs team started investigations against them and got their physical remand as well for further investigation. Now the accused has sent to jail on judicial trial.

It is pertinent to mention here that Multan customs anti-smuggling squad intercepted three different trucks which were loaded with different goods including white cumin seed, coriander seed, almonds without shell, dried plums, Rani Juices with fruit pieces, plastic granules, natural dried herb, figs, multi-vitamin syrup and others from jurisdiction.

During the examination of said goods, Customs team found that trucks loaded with cargo in transit to Afghanistan. Smugglers were trying to smuggle the said goods under the garb of Afghan Transit Trade. Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has formed seizure report against the recovered goods in action.

Multan Customs has arrested eight said accused on charges of smuggling goods under the Afghan Transit Trade and lodged criminal case no.5/18 against accused after their initial investigation. After completion of 14 days judicial remand they will be presented before the court for further proceeding.
