MULTAN: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has granted three days physical remand of suspect involved in smuggling of foreign currency.
According to details, Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) team of Multan Customs presented accused Abdul Aleem Rashid before the customs court. Multan Customs Investigation and Prosecution sought customs court judge for the physical remand of accused in the smuggling of foreign Currency smuggling charges.
It is important to mention here that the Collectorate carried out successful operation on direction of Collector Muhammad Saleem at Multan International Airport.
Alleged smuggler was trying to smuggle foreign currency of UAE dirham worth 117,355/ approximately equivalent to $31,000/-Foreign currency was concealed in the luggage of passenger when he boarding to Sharjah from Multan International Airport through flight no Pk-293.
Passenger declared only 10,000 UAE Dirhams foreign currency at the declaration counter but Customs staff recovered worth 117,355/Dirham foreign currency from luggage on doubt of smuggling during vigilant examination.
Multan Customs Investigation and Prosecution lodged first information report against suspect for smuggling of currency after arrest and presented him before customs court for taking physical remand. Customs Court granted three days physical remand of accuse Abdul Aleem Rashid for further investigation.
