Customs court asks investigation team to present witnesses in next hearing

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has asked the investigation and prosecution team to present witnesses of the case in the next hearing of a smuggling case. An accused held in the smuggling of cigarettes, cloths, mobile-phones and some other items has been sent to prison.

Accused Muhammad Hassan was apprehended by the customs intelligence authorities from Lahore. The customs intelligence authorities had carried out an operation on the secret intelligence information at Band Road Lahore and arrested the accused.

The customs investigation team had presented him before the customs court for getting his physical remand to investigate more on the issue that was granted by the court. Customs judge Tahir Sabir approved his remand for two days. After the completion of the remand, customs team will present him again before the court for further action.

The customs has lodged a case against the accused and launched investigation as well after impounding a vehicle and clothes that he was trying to smuggle.

Now on Thursday customs court has asked the witnesses of the case to be present in in the next hearing.

The customs authorities have registered a case against him under Pakistan Customs Act-1969.
