Customs Court confirms bail of suspect in smuggling of electronic goods case

KARACHI: The customs court confirmed bail of suspect namely Hassan Abbas son of Muhammad Hanif and directed him to make sure his appearance on each and every date of hearing before this court without fail, who was booked for smuggling of electronic and mobile accessories goods.

On 12 March 2022, during the hearing, counsel for the petitioner, special prosecutor for customs department and investigation officer appeared before the court.

Earlier, counsel for the accused/ applicant had filed bail application and argued that his client is innocent and has been falsely implicated in this case, applicant is ready to face trail and will submit surety as per court directions, therefore, court may grant his bail final judgment in this case, after the hearing, court had granted bail and directed him to appear on each and every date of hearing before the court without fail.

investigation officer Investigation officer of Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has submitted progress report against above mentioned suspect and informs that on an actionable information, customs officials intercepted the above -mentioned accused at Jinnah International Airport Karachi and during the scanning of his baggage, recovered Nos 2 iPad 8th generation 128GB. 7 Nos MacBook 13-inch 256 GB. One pcs MacBook 13-inch 512 GB. One-piece Kamera Canon EOS 6 D. 7 pcs HP Laptop. 4 pics Ispiron Laptop. 80 pcs of Redme Airdots. 300 pcs Kingston USB 64 GB.  3500 pcs USB Chip. 23 pcs Mobile Sony X Peria and others goods.

Investigation officer further informed the court that after recovery of the goods, the accused was asked to produce lawful documents, however, he failed to produce any lawful documents, therefore, after the formalities, customs officials seized the above-mentioned goods and the accused was arrested and a first information report (FIR) registered as well.
