Sources told Customs Today that accused Shahid Iqbal was apprehended while making an attempt to smuggle cigarettes to USA by declaring them as clothes. The worth of the goods is more than Rs1.3million.

Customs court heard the case again and cancelled the bail of the accused. The court has also asked the customs authorities to arrest the accused as soon as possible and present him before the court for further proceeding.

Earlier, customs investigation team presented him before the court of customs taxation and anti-smuggling judge. The customs investigation team asked the court that they have completed the investigation from the accused in a five-day physical remand. On the request of customs team, the special judge of the customs court sent him to jail for judicial trial. In August, he got a bail from the court against the surety bonds of Rs100000.

On the other hand, about 15 other cases were also scheduled for hearing on Tuesday. Most of the cases were adjourned without any proceeding.

Framing of charges against one Rasheed was also postponed for next week.

Final arguments and statements of the parties concerned in a case of smuggling against Rafique Ali were also scheduled for hearing which is rescheduled for next week.
